OwnCloud is client-server software for creating and using cloud file storage. Its functions are similar to Dropbox, except that ownCloud can be linked to the company’s own servers. The server edition of ownCloud is based on open source. Anyone can install the service on their own server and use it for free. OwnCloud also provides add-ons that allow ownCloud to use features similar to those on Google Drive, whether it’s syncing contacts, calendars, or editing documents using online software. Storage space and user connection limits are determined solely by the physical capacity of the host server, so there are no pre-set restrictions. ownCloud is also fully compatible not only with Microsoft and Apple operating systems, but also with Android and Linux.
